Finding Winter Shelter in Your Area

Auburn

Les Grove Park & Memorial Park (Serves men and women) **SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER**
Hours of operation: 9 p.m. – 8 a.m.
** This severe winter Shelter will be activated when temps fall below freezing over night or when severe weather is predicted. Space at each location will be approximately 30-35 cots and hosts will serve some light snacks and beverages. Mike Hursh with the City of Auburn is the key contact at 253-804-5029.

Bellevue

Eastside Winter Shelter for Homeless Men (Serves men only)
St. Peter’s United Methodist Church

Hours of operation: 8:30 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
Capacity: 50
** Space is first-come-first served. Open through March 15.

Eastside Winter Shelter for Homeless Women and Families (Serves men and women)
Salvation Army

Capacity: 15
** Space is first-come-first served. Open through March 15.

Federal Way

Reach Out Men’s Shelter (Serves men)
** The shelter serves 25 men maximum each night, and is run by CCS. For more information call 253-854-0077. Open November 1 – March 31.

New Hope Church (Serves men and women) **SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER**

** This shelter will open as a severe weather shelter during freezing temps and snow for all populations. Contact Pastor Rick at 253.269.6585

Kent

Severe Weather Shelter at Kent Lutheran Church (Serves men and women) **SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER**
336 2nd Ave. S
Hours of operation: 9 p.m. – 7 a.m.
** The City of Kent will announce when the shelter is open or you can contact City of Kent Housing & Human Services at 206-856-5070. Priority is given to homeless families with children who are living on the streets or in vehicles, but the shelter is also available for unaccompanied women and men; separate sleeping space has been prepared for men, women and for families with children. As with all shelters, rules for health and safety of clients, staff and the broader community will apply. The SWS will be operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran Church and the greater Kent Community.

Renton

Harambee Church (Serves men and women) *SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER**
316 S 3rd St.
Hours of operation: 9 p.m. – 7 a.m.
** Harambee will open to provide winter shelter when freezing temperatures and/or severe storms are predicted. All populations are welcome and the shelter can serve 50 maximum. Contact Terry Higashiyama at City of Renton 425-430-6600 for more information.

Seattle

Seattle City Hall (Co-ed: Serves men, women and families)
Located on 4th Avenue between James and Cherry Streets
Hours of operation: 7:30 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Capacity: 75
** The City Hall Shelter is located at 4th and Cherry (enter through the red doors) and serves adult men and women. The shelter opens from 8:30 p.m. – 7 a.m. People should not arrive before 8 p.m. Open nightly, through March.

Frye Hotel (Serves women only)
Located on Third and Yesler in Pioneer Square
Hours of operation: 8 p.m. – 7 a.m.
Capacity: 25
** The Frye Shelter serves women and is located at 3rd & Yesler in the community room of the Frye Hotel from 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. Women may be accompanied from the Women’s Referral Center or may go directly to the shelter. Open nightly, through March.

Emergency Weather Shelter (Serves adult men and women) **SEVERE WEATHER SHELTER**
Seattle Center Rainier Room (next to Key Arena)
Use bus routes 1, 2, 4 or 16
Hours of operation: 9 p.m. – 7 a.m.
** Open access – no referral forms required

Seattle Union Gospel Mission (Men and women welcome)

Hours of operation: 24/7
Capacity: 100
** Open through March

YWCA Angeline’s Center for Homeless Women (Serves women only)
2030 Third Ave. Belltown (between Lenora & Virginia in Seattle)
Hours of operation: 9:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Capacity: 40
** To access the Women’s Winter Response Shelter, stop by Angeline’s between 6 – 9 p.m. and register with the Women’s Referral Center. After 9 p.m. drop in or call 206.436.8650 to see if space is still available. Open to women 18 years and older. The shelter has capacity for 40 women a night. Open October 1 – March 31.

Men’s Shelter County Administrative Building (Serves men only)
500 Fourth Ave., Seattle between Jefferson & James
Hours of operation: 9:30 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.
Capacity: 50
** Line up for the shelter takes place in the park across fourth Avenue just south of the courthouse and Jefferson Street. Open nightly, all winter.

EMERGENCY WEATHER SHELTER: During extreme weather conditions additional shelter will be opened. Notification of emergency weather shelter openings will be available through the 211 Information Line and through media sources.
