Ways to Help in the Community by Volunteering Your Time or Making a Donation
How to begin?
- Learn about homelessness in King County and about the Ten-Year Plan.
- Become an advocate for change by working to help educate others in the community, including state and local officials, about homelessness and the Ten-Year Plan. Help to build support for the plan and the needed funding to achieve our goals.
- There are many service agencies that need you! Find a way to help or contribute - through your church, place of employment or on your own. Offer your skills, energy, commitment and money where it will mean something to you and to your community.
- How do I know where I am needed? United Way of King County can help! United Way has online information you can search to find just the right fit for your interests. Want to work with children or teenagers? Do you love to cook? Plant a garden? Can you offer help with administrative chores like phones or filing? Can you provide transportation for people who need to get to doctor's appointments? Teach a crafts class? Staff a thrift shop or donate gently used clothes or furniture? These and so much more are looking for you!
